Don’t be quick
When you brush your teeth, you need to brush for at least two minutes, not a quick one around for 10-15 seconds and then see you later. don’t rush when your brush

When you brush your teeth, make sure you don’t look at your cell phone, make sure you concentrate on your teeth that’s a very important thing. You’re going to look at your teeth when you brush them.
Don’t walk around until you finish
You want to make sure that you don’t walk around the neighborhood when you’re brushing your teeth, you stay in front of that mirror and you look at your teeth when you brush them, keep your mouth open, look at your teeth.
Proper tooth brushing involves five things:
- A soft toothbrush
- Toothpaste with fluoride
- Brushing long enough
- The correct brushing action
- Brushing at least twice a day
You can use a manual or electric toothbrush
Just make sure it has soft bristles. Soft bristles are kinder to your teeth and gums and they make it much easier to remove the plaque below the gum line or gum disease starts.
Use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste that contains fluoride
Fluoride strengthens the outer enamel layer of the teeth, it can stop a cavity in its tracks and give you more resistance to future cavities.
Make sure you’re brushing routine last long enough to thoroughly remove plaque
We recommend that you brush for at least two minutes. Sometimes the timer is helpful, at other times you can actually play a song and that’s right the right time.
- To start off, first of all, take your toothbrush. You angle it at a 45-degree angle to your teeth whether it’s front teeth or back teeth, you want to make sure you brush at a 45-degree angle.
When you hold the toothbrush, don’t either hold it perpendicular to the tooth nor hold it at a ninety-degree angle but you want to hold it at a forty-five-degree angle so right at the gum and tooth line.

- You take the toothbrush and you’re going to break your teeth in two sections, each quarter of your mouth is 30 seconds of brushing and 15 seconds on the outside, 15 seconds on the inside.
So, 45-degree angle, brush up and down, up and down, you might want to make sure you do not scrub back and forth. If you scrub back and forth, you run the chance of actually wearing down gum tissue. Your gum tissue is very thin, make sure it’s not back-and-forth. What this does is it removes the debris from in between your teeth and at the gum line where food generally will trap.
- When you get to your front teeth, you can change the angle of the toothbrush and brush vertically, up and down. It’s very easy to brush your front teeth up and down, most people don’t have a problem with that.
Now you want to make sure you flip the toothbrush to brush the inside of your upper front teeth and the inside of your upper back teeth. Again you’re brushing up and down and the chewing surfaces.
- Once you get to that thirty-second mark, either in your head or timing it, you then flip it to another section of your mouth.
Again brushing at a 45-degree angle, touch your back teeth and you brush up and down up and down again. Brush the chewing surfaces carefully – the only areas of teeth you can brush back and forth.
You want to make sure you hit every surface of your tooth and then again as you roll around to the front, you change the angle of the toothbrush vertically. Brush up and down up and down up and down up and down.
- Move on for the next section but make sure that you angle it at 45-degree angle and brush up and down up and down.
Make sure that you get behind these back teeth and the best way to do that is to open as wide as you can and then go in from the opposite side and that allows you access to behind your second molar or even your wisdom teeth.
Another thing that you can do is when you open halfway, it allows you to actually pull your cheek out further and then that allows you to go in.
Be sure that in your two minutes, you’re putting in a good amount of time with these back teeth. Remember this is where we chew grind and process our foods, these teeth need to be cleaned the most.
- Once you’re done with all your teeth, the last thing but one of the most important things to do is sticking out your tongue.
And by brushing your tongue and the roof of your mouth, this removes germs, any kind of debris or food that you may have stuck to your tongue and keeps your breath fresh.
You can use a tongue brush with a special head to do the job or a tongue scraper to remove the odor-causing bacteria. The top of your tongue has lots of germs on it. You want to make sure you brush your tongue before you go to sleep.
When you brush, it’s important to brushing after breakfast cleans away the morning’s food debris and brushing your teeth before bedtime protects your teeth all night.
